Shorebirds Jolt Sand Gnats, 7-2, with Late Rally

The Savannah Sand Gnats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Tomás Ganoso into a win. Instead, the Delmarva Shorebirds prevailed, 7-2. Ganoso threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. José Martínez snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 4.1 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. With the win, Delmarva pushed its record to 59-59.
It could have been a different outcome for Delmarva, had it not been for Reginald Ross, the 25-year old center fielder . Ross contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Delmarva up, 3-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ross. "And not try to do too much."
