The Rome Hammers cruised to a win over the Delmarva Shorebirds, 16-3, at State Mutual Stadium. Jerry Jones, who is tied for 10th in the SAL with a .373 on-base percentage, led the way, going 3-for-4 for Rome. Curt Brown converted his 1st save in 1 tries. Rome has run its win streak to 5 straight.

With Rome leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Jones hit a cutter from Jimmy Koch for a 2-run triple. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Hammers ahead, 3-0.

"We came out aggressive," said Hammers manager Aaron Holbert. "We came out swinging the bats."
