Grasshoppers Use Late Score to Top Tourists, 8-7
The Greensboro Grasshoppers topped the Asheville Tourists, 8-7, at NewBridge Bank Park. Greensboro second baseman Dan Fawkes was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Greensboro is now 59-63, Asheville 62-60.

The decisive blow was delivered by Joe Kent in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Scott to win the game for Greensboro. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place was rocking at the end," Fawkes said.
