Intimidators Get Dramatic 9-6 Win
The Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the Rome Firebirds, 9-6, in part because of third baseman Ron Mallard. Mallard went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Intimidators. The victory gives Kannapolis a record of 65-61.

The decisive blow was delivered by Ben Dotson in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 25-year old left-handed pitcher Liam Manfredy to win the game for Kannapolis. The home crowd went nuts.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Mallard.
