Grasshoppers Use Late Score to Top Tourists, 4-3
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers beat the Asheville Tourists, 4-3, at McCormick Field. Daniel Yan, in particular, was impressive. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Steve Cole picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Pete Joseph, who is tied for 8th in the SAL in holds with 8, was tagged with the loss. At 62-66, the Grasshoppers claim 6th place in the Northern Division.
Greensboro used the timely hitting of Jake Jackson to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grasshoppers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Yan called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
