Sand Gnats Absorb 7-1 Home Loss
|
Behind a fine performance from Jeremy Bennett, the Augusta GreenJackets knocked off the Savannah Sand Gnats, 7-1. Bennett went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the GreenJackets. Augusta reliever Pat Parks picked up the win, upping his record to 6-2. Jared Greene absorbed the loss. After today's action, Augusta sits at 56-75; Savannah slips to 64-67.
The GreenJackets got a big at-bat from left fielder Tim Salsman. For the game, Salsman was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Augusta a 2-0 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Bennett. "Now we'll go after the next one."
