Due in large part to second baseman José Guillén, the Delmarva Shorebirds sunk the Asheville Tourists, 11-2. Guillén went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Raúl Hernández. He's now 5-0. He went 5 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits for the Shorebirds. With the win, Delmarva raised its record to 67-67.

Delmarva center fielder Reginald Ross contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a bases-clearing double. It was his 25th double of the season and put the Shorebirds ahead, 7-0.

"Not much to say," Asheville manager Dave Turgeon said, when asked afterward about the defeat.
