Greensboro Grasshoppers starter Brit Connolly found his groove in his team's 3-2 win over the Rome Hammers. The win belonged to Jody Watkins in relief. His record improves to 8-6. Stephen Millar took the loss for Rome. Greensboro goes to 64-70, Rome to 81-53.

Dan Fawkes was the walk-off hero for Greensboro. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Grasshoppers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

After the game, Greensboro manager J.A. Happ applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
