Cubs Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
Already in trouble in the Round 1, the DSL Blue Jays knew they needed a strong outing from their starter and good production on offense. They got one of the two.

The Blue Jays failed to put much together on offense and wasted an impressive 5.2-inning effort from right-handed starter Augusto Fernández, falling, 1-0, to the DSL Cubs at Baseball City Complex. The loss put the Blue Jays in an even deeper hole -- they now trail DSL 3-0.

Jon Taylor took DSL hurler Augusto Fernández deep in the bottom of the third. His solo home run put the Cubs on top, 1-0. In all, Taylor had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Edwin Encarnacion.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wednesday, October 7th , 2026.
