Playoff Win Advances New York N 2 (DSL) to Next Round

The stakes were high at New York Mets Complex today as two Dominican Rookie League clubs looked to advance in the quest toward the League Series.
In the end, the New York N 2 (DSL) Mets 2 knocked off the Atlanta (DSL) Firebirds in the Wildcard Series, by a score of 4-2. After the one-game playoff win, the team will move on to the Division Series.
"We never stopped believing," said New York N 2 (DSL) third baseman Lyndon Morrison. "All season long we expected to be going deep in the playoffs and we still feel that way. We're going to be a tough team for anyone to handle in the playoffs."
Morrison went 4-for-4 in the win and took home the game MVP award.
Blake Wood, manager of the Firebirds, said he was proud of his club's efforts and said he believed that, with a few more breaks, it could have been his club advancing.
The New York N 2 (DSL) Mets 2 will play against the Houston 1 (DSL) Astros Blue in the next round. Houston 1 (DSL) won their series against the Detroit (DSL) Tigers. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.

Rays Heading to Division Series

With a 4-1 win, the Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays are off to the Division Series.
They ousted the New York N (DSL) Mets 1 at New York Mets Complex tonight in the one-game Wildcard Series format.
Tampa Bay (DSL) was led by center fielder Dave O'Fogarty, who went 3-for-4 to pace his team to victory.
"If it wasn't me stepping up, it would have been someone else, that's just the way our team has been this year," he said. "We like our chances in the Division Series. We're a dangerous team right now."
The Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays will play against the Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1 in the next round. Baltimore (DSL) won their series against the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.

Playoff Win Vaults Baltimore (DSL) to Next Round

Ed McClarnon did all he could to help guide his team into the next round of the playoffs, but it wasn't enough.
McClarnon was named MVP in a losing cause, as the Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1 defeated his Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies by a score of 3-2 at Baseball City Complex.
"I want to be going on to the Division Series and I couldn't care less about getting the MVP in a loss," he said.
For their part, the Orioles 1 were overjoyed to get the win despite the big performance from McClarnon.
"McClarnon played great, but in the end we got the win," said Orioles 1 manager Omar Ramirez. "That's all anyone is going to remember."
The Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1 don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays - New York N (DSL) Mets 1 series. That series has not started yet. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
