5-3 Win for Connecticut Over West Virginia
Connecticut Tigers starter Juan Martínez found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the West Virginia Black Bears. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 1-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. The victory gives Connecticut a record of 11-7.

Pete Yates had a big 2-run double for the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Connecticut leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Stewart and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 3-0.

"We did a lot of things right," said Yates.
