The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers, 2-1, at San Manuel Stadium. Rancho Cucamonga right fielder Ken Goodman had a superb performance. He hit 2 home runs. Ken Smith earned save number 30 this season. The Quakes have a one-game lead in the South Division.

Goodman had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Ric McGill, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Quakes a 2-1 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Goodman.

"We take it day by day here," said Goodman, "and today was a good one for us."
