The Detroit (DSL) Tigers inaugurated their 2025 season with a tough 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay (DSL) Rays at Detroit Tigers Complex. Starting Pitcher António Mercado had perhaps the best performance for Tampa Bay (DSL).

It could have been a different outcome for Tampa Bay (DSL), had it not been for Jeremy Barraclough, the 19-year old second baseman . Barraclough contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Tampa Bay (DSL) up, 1-0.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Detroit (DSL) manager Hisashi Iwakuma.
