Rivas Shines, Shuts Out Seattle (DSL), 3-0
The Seattle (DSL) Mariners manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Philadelphia (DSL) Phillies. The Mariners were overpowered by Philadelphia (DSL) starter Chris Rivas, who hurled his club to victory, 3-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Ruben Escalera said.

Over 9 innings, Rivas blanked Seattle (DSL) on 7 hits with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Rivas said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This year, Rivas has worked 38.2 innings with 40 strikeouts en route to a 3-2 record and a 2.79 ERA.
