DSL center fielder Walt Martin helped his team beat the DSL Cubs, 6-2. Martin, who is tied for 7th in the DSL in extra base hits with 16, went 1 for 2 for the Hammers. Chris Lee, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Dave King earned the save for DSL, his 2nd of the year.

With DSL trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Martin hit a slider from Jesús García for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Hammers ahead, 2-1.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Martin.

The Hammers improved their record to 16-13 by beating DSL.
