Mariners Get Past DSL, 2-1
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the DSL Mariners and DSL Yankees.
The DSL Yankees wasted an inspired, 6.2-inning effort from starter David Rodríguez, falling, 2-1, to the DSL Mariners at New York Yankees Complex. Reliever Dave Davis picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Miguel Angel Flores took the loss.
Jim Whalen provided a timely hit. The DSL first baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariners on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
DSL manager Ruben Escalera praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The loss makes DSL 16-18.
