The San Diego (DSL) Padres had to overcome a big game from Oakland (DSL) designated hitter Brad Harris to leave San Diego Padres Complex with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-4. Harris went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ron Whelan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

Juan Ortega hit a 2-run home run off Jorge Mata in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Padres ahead, 6-4. In addition to the homer, Ortega had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Getting the win feels nice," said Ortega. "More importantly, I had a good game."

The win gives the Padres a record of 11-29.
