Curt Martin, who is tied for 3rd in the DSL in complete games with 2, pitched well, but the Kansas City (DSL) Royals still fell short, losing, 4-2, to the Houston 1 (DSL) Astros Blue at Houston Astros Complex Orange. Dave Banks, now 10-1, was credited with the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Tim Wheeler closed it out for Houston 1 (DSL), earning his 6th save.
Andy Kirk dealt the Royals a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Houston 1 (DSL) leading 1-0, Kirk hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Kirk told the Houston 1 (DSL) Herald.
The Astros Blue own a robust 33-13 mark.
