Detroit (DSL) Tigers starter José Ruíz pitched effectively against the Houston 1 (DSL) Astros Blue at Detroit Tigers Complex. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 8-4 win. The Tigers improved their record to 34-20 by beating Houston 1 (DSL).

Detroit (DSL) took the lead, 5-4, on Jesús Magana's 18th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Magana hit in the bottom of the seventh, made Houston 1 (DSL) pitcher Mario Galló wince.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ruíz.
