Lancaster Advances to Round 2
The Round 1 may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Lancaster JetHawks, however, are not complaining.

The JetHawks were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Inland Empire 66ers to advance to the Round 2.

Lancaster won the final game by a 17-2 count at San Manuel Stadium and the series 3-1.

JetHawks shortstop Charlie Gaston was named series MVP, as he hit .400 with a .429 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.

"It's not going to be the last time Inland Empire makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Gaston said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day."

The Lancaster JetHawks don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the San Jose Giants - Bakersfield Blaze series. Bakersfield leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
