The 22-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Greensboro Grasshoppers worries.

Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Dave Proulx seemed like a risky move for the Grasshoppers, but it was one of the few things that went right at NewBridge Bank Park. Proulx tossed 5.2 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Greensboro dropped a 3-2 decision. With the win, Lakewood took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Lakewood used the timely hitting of Zach Mills to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the BlueClaws on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This was a nice win for us," said Mills. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro.
