Rome Breaks Through for First Win in Round 2; Now Trails 2-1
|
Behind a bravura effort from starter Jesús Martínez, the Rome Firebirds topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers by the score of 4-0 and got their first win in the 2025 Round 2. Martínez threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball for the Firebirds. The win narrows Rome's deficit to 2-1.
Martínez, the Rome right-hander, went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits. He collected 7 strikeouts.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Martínez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at State Mutual Stadium in Rome.
