9-5 Scranton WB Loss Tarnishes Bilardello Jr.'s Fine Effort
|
Scranton WB left fielder Dann Bilardello Jr. was sensational. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Lehigh Valley beat the RailRiders, 9-5. The winner was Rob Bush, who threw 111 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. The IronPigs, now 19-23, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Jeff Smith went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Lehigh Valley. The 29-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Luis Fuentes. It was his 19th hit of the season.
"The credit goes to our offense," said Lehigh Valley manager John Valentin.
