Hammers Score Late, Upend IronPigs, 3-2

The Gwinnett Hammers, with some walk-off drama, delighted their fans at Coolray Field.
Behind an impressive start by Jeff Reid, Gwinnett beat Lehigh Valley, 3-2. Gwinnett pitcher Ed Ford got the win. He's now 3-3. Ron Boyer was tagged with the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered by Al Johnson in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Ron Boyer to win the game for Gwinnett. The home crowd went nuts.
"This was a gut-wrenching loss," said Lehigh Valley manager John Valentin, "the kind that'll give you an ulcer."
The setback makes Lehigh Valley 26-30.
