Pawtucket Wins, Topping Lehigh Valley, 5-3
|
Pawtucket Red Sox starter Juan Oramas pitched a strong game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at McCoy Stadium, leading the Red Sox to victory, 5-3. Jon Bascombe earned the save for Pawtucket, his 1st. By defeating Lehigh Valley, the 5th-place Red Sox improved to 31-33.
Raúl Diharce had a big 2-run home run for the Red Sox in the bottom of the second inning. With Pawtucket leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a knuckle curve from Rob Bush, who is tied for 5th in the IL in quality starts with 10, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Red Sox on top, 4-0.
"Juan was commanding his pitches," said Pawtucket manager Wes Timmons.
