Dave Blackburn, who is tied for 6th in the IL in complete games with 1, was locked in. The left-hander led the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a 5-3 win against the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium. The IronPigs now have a record of 30-36 with the win over Pawtucket.
Lehigh Valley used a timely hit from Andrelton Simmons to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the IronPigs ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Blackburn.
