IronPigs Spoil Opening Day for Red Wings, Their Fans
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Rochester Red Wings were eager to watch Curt Boyd square off against Luis Gil of the visiting Lehigh Valley IronPigs. In the end, the IronPigs won the game, 6-3, with Luis Gil leading the way. Gil got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs.

Lehigh Valley designated hitter Jose Altuve contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the IronPigs ahead, 2-0.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Lehigh Valley manager John Valentin.
