The Fresno Grizzlies had to overcome a fine effort from Round Rock pitcher Edgardo Morán to win, 4-3, at Dell Diamond. Morán went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Juan Gutiérrez snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Fresno now has a record of 19-15 with the win.
Fresno used the timely hitting of Cliff Martin to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Grizzlies on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We took home the win," said Martin. "What's not to like?"
