Las Vegas Gets 7-1 Win
|
Las Vegas took on Tacoma in front of a lively crowd.
Las Vegas turned a good effort from starter Jeff McCray into a win over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. The final score was 7-1. The winning pitcher was McCray, now 9-3. He tossed 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6.
Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Walt Cook to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the 51s on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Las Vegas skipper Nelson Paulino.
The win puts Las Vegas at 41-28 this season.
