Tacoma pitcher Juan Luna had a large part in his team beating the El Paso Chihuahuas, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Luna got the win, improving to 8-4. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Doug Bannatyne earned the save, his 23rd, for the Rainiers.

Yoshitsune Yamada's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 3-3. The Tacoma second baseman hit a run-scoring single off Brad Gray to put the Rainiers up.

The Pacific Conference North Division-leading Rainiers are 45-29.
