Clippers Win, 5-3, Versus Indianapolis
|
Columbus pitcher Nate Brown did his part in helping his team beat the Indianapolis Arrows, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Juan Álvarez was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Kelyn Jose. Kevin Quackenbush earned the save for Columbus, his 2nd.
Phil Ervin chipped in for Columbus, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth inning. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Nate did a good job of managing their lineup," said Columbus manager Carlos Garcia.
The Clippers, now 9-1, have had a terrific start to the season.
