Fresno and Sacramento duked it out and the Grizzlies came out victorious.

The Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Sacramento River Cats, 5-4, in Pacific Conference action at Raley Field. Fresno pitcher Jim Richmond had a standout performance. Earning his 12th save for Fresno was Andres Sanchez.

Takahiro Hayagawa dealt the River Cats a blow in the top of the second. Batting with the bases loaded and Fresno leading 2-1, Hayagawa hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Richmond.

Fresno goes to 68-55. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
