River Cats Pull Out Late Win, 6-5
|
The Sacramento River Cats weathered a fine game by Colorado Springs second baseman Luis Sánchez to upend the Sky Sox, 6-5, at Raley Field. Sánchez went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Sacramento, at 60-74, holds down third place in the Pacific Conference South Division.
Had Chet Johnson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Johnson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the River Cats.
"I felt good up there," said Johnson. "I saw the ball well."
