The Altoona Curve defeated the Bowie Baysox, 5-1, in Eastern League action at Prince George's Stadium. Altoona pitcher Tony Miles had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Miles, now 3-5. He tossed 5.1 innings of 0-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 3. Greg Murray notched his 18th save in 19 chances.
Djoka Uskokovic, who is tied for 5th in the EL in stolen bases with 11, helped out the Altoona cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
Uskokovic told a Altoona Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Bowie has now lost 11 straight.
