The San Jose Giants defeated the Inland Empire 66ers, 7-3, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. San Jose right fielder Edmund Richards had a superb performance. He went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bob Whitney picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 10 in 6.1 innings. The loss has the 66ers at 0-6.

Pancho Soto helped out the San Jose cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
