Lake Elsinore Stopped, 3-1, by Inland Empire
|
Inland Empire turned a good effort from starter Chris Walsh into a win over the Lake Elsinore Storm at San Manuel Stadium. The 66ers won the game, 3-1. Kevin Jenkins was credited with the save for Inland Empire, his 1st of the season. The win brings the 66ers to 4-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
With scoring opportunities rare, the 66ers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Claude Palma hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Geoff Erickson and made the score 2-1, 66ers. Palma was 1-4 with a hit by pitch.
"Chris is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Inland Empire manager Kent Matthes.
