Inland Empire Pockets 5-3 Win Over Bakersfield

Inland Empire and Bakersfield duked it out and the 66ers came out victorious.
José Espinosa had a strong outing for the Inland Empire 66ers against the Bakersfield Blaze at San Manuel Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Leon Thompson earned his 6th save, after closing out the game.
The Blaze had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the 66ers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old center fielder Dan Pond came to the plate. Pond hit a solo home run on a first pitch fastball from Bakersfield hurler Johnny Morgan. It was Pond's 1st home run of the year.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Pond.
Bakersfield drops to 11-8.
