Rancho Cucamonga laid the wood on Inland Empire at LoanMart Field.

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers by the score of 16-0, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher Jorge Rivera. Rivera slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Quakes on the day. Joe James, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the 66ers to no runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 4.

With Rancho Cucamonga leading 11-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Rivera came up to bat against Inland Empire pitcher Dylan Locke. Rivera hit a splitter to right for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Quakes on top, 15-0.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Rivera told the Rancho Cucamonga News. "It's as simple as that."

The Quakes are now 14-18, while the 66ers fall to 18-14.
