Quakes Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rawhide, 7-1
|
Rancho Cucamonga turned a fine outing from starter Jonathan Craft into a victory over the Visalia Rawhide at LoanMart Field. The final score was 7-1. Chris Baird picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Jeff Ayers, who is tied for 2nd in the CAL in quality starts with 6, was tagged with the loss. The defeat makes Visalia 23-24.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Víctor Ramírez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Visalia pitcher Josh Emerson, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Rancho Cucamonga on top, 3-1.
