Quakes Get Clutch Win Versus Inland Empire
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes got the win.

In a low-scoring contest between the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and the Inland Empire 66ers, Joe James was the X factor. The Rancho Cucamonga left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Rancho Cucamonga reliever Ed McClain snagged the win, upping his record to 4-0. Ernie Jennings shouldered the loss. Ken Smith finished the game for Rancho Cucamonga and earned his 12th save.

Eric Columbus, who is tied for 10th in the CAL in RBI with 32, chipped in a run-scoring single for Rancho Cucamonga in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
