The Inland Empire 66ers picked up a win at San Manuel Stadium, knocking off the Modesto Nuts, 4-3. On the mound for Inland Empire was left-hander Caleb Smith. He played a key role in the triumph. Inland Empire reliever Sergio Muñóz picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Orlando Rodríguez was saddled with the loss. Their 43-42 record puts the 66ers 4th in the South Division.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Inland Empire. That's when Dave Burnett, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2024 draft, hit a solo home run off Orlando Rodríguez to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
Burnett attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
