Thanks in large part to catcher Steve Fleming, the Bakersfield Blaze beat the Inland Empire 66ers, 9-6. Fleming went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Ben Barrera earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The win elevated the Blaze to 66-40.

Bakersfield got a clutch hit from Tony Riggs. The second baseman launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"A great game, a great day," said Riggs about the win. "I can't complain."
