Quakes Roll to 9-3 Win Over 66ers
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers, 9-3. Shortstop Curt Evans deserved a large share of the credit. Evans was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Quakes. After today's action, Rancho Cucamonga sits at 54-55, while Inland Empire falls to 55-54.

Tied up with the 66ers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Quakes got a boost from catcher Tim Smith. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Smith saw a 2-2 cutter from José Martínez and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Rancho Cucamonga on top, 1-0.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Evans.
