Lock Delivers Walk-Off Win for Mavericks
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The High Desert Mavericks took Inland Empire pitcher António Germán's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Stater Bros. Stadium. The final score had High Desert getting past the 66ers, 3-2. Germán went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. Reliever Ben Tucker picked up the win. His record improves to 10-4. Mike Taylor took the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered by Peter Lock in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Taylor to win the game for High Desert. The home crowd went nuts.
After the game, High Desert manager Vance Wilson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
With the win, High Desert pushed its record to 72-55.
