Manatees Stumble, Fall to Blue Jays, 5-2

The Brevard County Manatees opened their 2026 season with a disappointing 5-2 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays at Space Coast Stadium. Center Fielder Steve Collins was a big part of the win for Dunedin. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Doug Winters wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
With Dunedin leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Collins hit a circle change from Rob Castle for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0.
In postgame remarks, Collins said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
