Murphy, Hammerheads March to 5-2 Victory
|
Joey Murphy was a vital contributor to the 5-2 Jupiter victory over Charlotte. The Hammerheads right fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Picking up the save was Gunnar Walsh, his 1st. The Hammerheads, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Jeff Adams was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Jupiter. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe Bodenham. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
Murphy attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
