Hawkins Helps Threshers Defeat Tortugas, 12-4
Jim Hawkins was a major contributor to the 12-4 Clearwater win over Daytona. The Threshers shortstop was 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The win puts Clearwater at 2-0.

Hawkins had a key at-bat for Clearwater in the bottom of the first. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Clearwater an early 2-0 lead.

In postgame comments to the Clearwater Chronicle, Hawkins said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
