Stone Crabs Rally to Tally 4-3 Win
|
Clearwater got a valiant performance from pitcher Willie Griffin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Charlotte won the game, 4-3. Griffin threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Dan Collins, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Josh Cox, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2024 draft, nailed down the save.
Juan Rocha helped out the Charlotte cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 4.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Rocha, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Clearwater drops to 1-4.
