The home team gave the crowd some walk-off drama.
The Palm Beach Cardinals got a sterling performance from pitcher Jim Sandberg, but the Lakeland Flying Tigers still prevailed, 4-3. Sandberg threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The Flying Tigers, now 5-1, have been playing some good baseball.
Garry Bishop was the walk-off hero for Lakeland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Flying Tigers second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
After the game, Lakeland manager Donald Lutz applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
