Manatees Absorb 4-2 Home Loss
|
The Palm Beach Cardinals topped the Brevard County Manatees, 4-2, at Space Coast Stadium. Palm Beach designated hitter Mike Meyer was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jim Sandberg was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Rob Castle. Luis Padilla earned the save, his 3rd, for the Cardinals.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Meyer hit a 2-run home run off Rob Castle. It propelled the Cardinals into the lead, 2-0.
"Winning never gets dull," said Meyer.
The loss drops Brevard County to 5-6.
