Blue Jays Capture Close Win

The Dunedin Blue Jays had to overcome a fine effort from Charlotte pitcher António Mercado to win, 5-4, in 10 innings at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Mercado went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Reliever Doug Winters picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Tomokatsu O'Brien took the loss. Charlotte, at 3-9, is off to a poor start in 2026.
The Blue Jays got a clutch hit from catcher José Féliz. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Blue Jays.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Dunedin manager Jose Mejia. "It's usually not just one thing."
